This week I traveled to Greensboro, NC to visit with the Center for Creative Leadership. CCL and the Auburn MBA program are entering the 2nd year of a partnership where we are offering the full time MBA students an opportunity to learn from a Top 5 Executive Leadership Development firm in the world. I believe this partnership to be a wonderful and integrative experience for our students. We offer 3 unique leadership sessions that are held off campus to allow the students to be free from distractions as well as get the C-suite treatment with conference services and amenities. The 3 pronged approach to leadership as designed by the Auburn MBA program and CCL is comprised of the following topics:

Leading Self – Leading Others – Changing Your World

We believe these topics will give our students the tools they need to be successful. Also, I believe this approach to leadership development and contracting with a 3rd party vendor versus creating an internal program is best practices in this space. So much, that I have presented a session topic to the American Association of Adult and Continuing Education annual conference on leadership implementation and it has been accepted. My plan, in working closely with CCL, is to showcase how our MBA program took the steps to be innovative and offer the best possible leadership experience for our students. More to come on that front as the conference is held in November in Oklahoma City.

While at CCL, we spent a good part of our time also exploring our future relationship. We are planning to work side by side to continue to create new ideas and how we can implement them. We are looking at options for our online MBA students to come to campus for a CCL leadership session, finding ways to integrate CCL practices into the classroom as well as train Auburn faculty and staff on facilitation practices.

It is an exciting time to be part of the Auburn MBA program.
