I love being a dad. As I said in the "About Me" portion of this web page it is both the hardest thing and most rewarding thing I have ever done!
This past Sunday was Father's Day and I was celebrated like a King. My wife, Deena, took out so much time to make sure that I knew that I was loved and appreciated. And in turn, I was moved by how much she showed how she cared for me.
I also had the privlege to do something all dads aspire to do: teach their child how to ride a bike without the use of training wheels. My oldest daughter, Blakely, is 6 years old and is a bundle of love, laughter and emotion. She is my perfectionist and brilliant child so when we talked about taking her out to learn how to ride, I was a little nervous. I wanted to make sure that we could work well together and that I could teach her how to ride this two-wheeled alumimum rocket!
We went to the communty rec center near our house. I was looking for a place where I could begin on a hard, solid surface and then transition to the soft grass in the case that she bit the dust.
As the video will show, she took to it like a champ! My daughters always make me proud, but to watch her complete this feat and overcome her fears in truly rewarding. I am so blessed to have this experience and this feeling is some thing that would have never happened had I not become a father.I know not all adventures will come out like this, but I also know that life is not always about the victories. I must teach my girls and guide them through the hard times as well. Be there when they don't win or master something. I look forward to the highs and lows and all the in betweens as they grow and I learn how best to love them. But for now - enjoy some awesome bike riding!
